Agricorp Makes The List of 50 Most Promising Climate Tech startups in Sub-Saharan Africa.

--

What makes a plan, business, or activity worthwhile? It may be the accolades, achievements, or recognition at times, but for us, it is the value and impact on the lives of people and the world at large. It is bringing about positive change one person at a time. These are some driving forces that propel and sustain a business’s efforts.

We are extremely honoured to have been recognised as one of the organisations building and fostering food systems in the 2022 Africa Climate Tech 50 list compiled by HolonIQ, a global education market intelligence platform.

HolonIQ’s annual Sub-Saharan Africa Climate Tech 50 list includes Climate Tech startups and companies based in Sub-Saharan Africa that are making a significant contribution to climate change mitigation or adaptation through the application of new technology or scientific knowledge. In recent times, HolonIQ’s 2022 list highlights Agricorp International as one of the most promising startups working in new energy, the environment and sustainability.

This feature is significant because it demonstrates how we are steadily putting Nigeria on the global food chain by leveraging our investments in simple processing systems for spices, poultry, and other agricultural products. Over the years, we have taken it upon ourselves to create a market for local farmers and aggregators by connecting their products to the international market.

We help Nigerian farmers by collaborating with them to maximise crop cultivation potential and meet the global demand for indigenous spices on a consistent basis. Our market supply strategy has resulted in a more inclusive local community of farmers with a market for their produce.

As a growing African agri-tech startup, we are aware of some of the industry’s challenges. One that has piqued our interest and that we are currently working to improve is the low participation of youths in agriculture. We accomplish this through our initiative, Agricorp Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (YEP), which supports Nigeria’s entrepreneurship ecosystems via our Poultry Development Programme. This program promotes the creation of long-term jobs for young Nigerians by providing agricultural youths with the skills, knowledge, financial support, and enabling environments needed to run a bankable poultry business.

The inclusion on the Sub-Saharan Africa Climate Tech 50 list distinguishes us as one of the region’s young, fast-growing, and innovative climate tech start-ups. It demonstrates our unwavering commitment to fostering innovation and advancing inclusive, sustainable industrialisation in the agricultural sector, all while working hard to improve food systems and ensure food security in Africa. We will always be committed to improving and growing Africa’s agriculture industry.
